Bettman was good for owners and making the league big business.
But is the NHL "better" now that it was? Frankly, I consider the level of hockey in the late 90s to early 00s as the golden age of skill and toughness. From this fans' point of view, hockey has just got more expensive and the product is not better.
Good for the owners.
