Like I said, the centre depth in the system looks much better with a prospect like that. Especially now that Zary looks like he’s developing into a legit 2nd line centre. In that scenario, the flames look skilled in centres, wingers and defencemen throughout the prospect/young player cupboards. Obviously, it would be great to keep adding to all of those positions but, in that scenario, there would be a plan forward for the core positions in the future.

The scenario where Catton is drafted instead of Parekh:
#1 centre: Catton
#2 centre: Zary
#1 goalie: Wolf
Top four defensemen: Andersson, Weegar, Mews, Brz, Poirier (hopefully 2 of the young players would work out that way)

The flames current scenario:
#1 centre:
#2 centre: Zary
#1 D: Parekh
#1 goalie: Wolf
Top four defencemen: Andersson, Weegar, Mews, Brz, Poirier, Parekh (hopefully 2 of the young players would work out that way)

Parekh's ceiling is a #1D; whether he makes it is up-in-the-air as is Catton's projection to be a 1C.
