The funny thing is that whole thing that set off the whole sequence was McDavid interfering with Garland. McDavid had possession of the puck and dished it off to hit Garland (getting the elbow high at that) and then laid on top of him. With the whistles put away, why wouldn't Garland take advantage of that?
The initial call should have been on McDavid and play should have stopped. But the Oilers were pressing and the refs let it slide.
