Coming into the season that would have been the plan and we'd all expect the team to look at maybe moving Andersson and bottoming out (aka you're already picking top 10 and want to pick top 5)

But right now they are actually closer to passing Florida and keeping our own first round pick and giving MTL Florida's 1st (.606 vs .567) than they are getting into the Bottom 10 to keep our own pick (.567 vs .500).

.500 really is the threshold for Bottom 10 right now. So for the Flames that would mean getting 31 points in their final 37 games for a .419 point percentage.

Maybe if Wolf gets hurt that would be possible, but moving Andersson right now would probably leave them in no mans land where they miss the playoffs, but also don't finish bottom ten and give Montreal the 11th or 12th OV pick.

And the other problem is the playoff divide is probably big enough that other teams start selling...Pittsburgh, New York, Buffalo, San Jose, Chicago, Nashville, Anaheim, Seattle...those 8 teams are far enough out that they likely are sellers once the 4 Nations break happens and are all playing below a .480.
