Arguably the sports world is quick to pull the trigger for quick results. But in this case it’s hard to argue they’ve done a good job in almost every way with the on field product. That video posted talking about the 2021 team being on the up and up seems so long ago. There is no justification for keeping Atkins this long aside from Shapiro insisting to leadership that he stay, and leadership being bent over needing to keep Shapiro himself. While I for once would like to see a leader have a chance to correct their mistakes, I have no confidence they know how to rob any team in a deal. It’s needed from time to time but these guys just don’t have the competence and that’s maddening that they’re kept around after last offseason’s debacle.
