Wolf reaching his potential was always going to mean that bottoming out wasn’t in the cards for this team. Especially with guys like Zary and Coronato emerging. Like who did Chicago have on the team when they got Bedard? Who did San Jose have when they got Celebrini?

We’ve got some picks looking hot (not least of is the potential Karlsson-esque offensive #1 defenceman), a couple more kicks at that first round can at least, and the assets to play for a good #1 center even if they aren’t elite.

I don’t know. I look at winners like St. Louis and Boston, contenders like Winnipeg and Dallas, and there’s a path there (not saying anything about a model or whatever or dredging up all those circular conversations).

I think whoever said we should focus on building from the net out is right. Lock in the all star calibre goaltender, focus on developing the very promising d-pipeline, and get creative/keep on interesting guys at the draft like they did this year. You never know what happens, maybe we get lucky with a lottery win or something and I’m not saying “rebuild over start getting rentals”, but I like where we’re at already and think it’ll be really fun to see how this plays out.
