I see A-League as doing what the CPL should be doing with a little more ambition and less salary frugality ($2.25m AUD salary cap ($2m CAD approx.) plus "marquee player" that can make $300-600k).
A-League has a couple intriguing former big names (Juan Mata and Douglas Costa) and has had some former huge ones (Del Piero) that assuredly helps bring in casuals and football snobs. They also have a transparent collective bargaining agreement. CPL should be taking note.

Sure, but A League has been around for 20 years and has average match attendance of over 13k.
When the CPL can get that level of attendance and stability from all its clubs, then some of those things make sense to bring in.
