If you think you have a deal for a top 4, young D-man or top 6 center you do it if you feel they can reach their potential. You don't say things like "But where does Zary/Sharongovich or Defense prospect A/B fit if we bring that guy in?" You DO NOT do that when you're in a rebuild.

Agreed. A GM’s job is to improve the team. Could be for today or for tomorrow but if Conroy has an opportunity to improve the team, as he sees it, he should be doing that.

On other words, if he has an opportunity to add a better RHS D than the one(s) he has, he absolutely should do so.
