I think that's a pretty easy sell to the Alberta public. If Trump is imposing tariffs on Central Canada and wants to leave Alberta alone, it's not going to look good if Ottawa drags Alberta into the fight for no reason.

You are very much overestimating how many people think like you. Trump wants to do what is best for American oil companies. He doesn’t care about Alberta at all.
