Hahaha great thread. But on the topic by the OP, fear not, minorities are slowly starting to increase their numbers in the NHL. This is just my own take as a child of immigrants, but many of the parents in my group did not have the kind of extra income to put their kids in hockey growing up (it's an expensive sport!). But as we grew up here and began making higher incomes than our parents (that's the goal!) and started having our own kids, many put their kids into hockey. These kids are starting to show up now in the draft and in increasing numbers, which is great to see.
Maybe not what you're asking about specifically, but last year, Kevin He of the Winnipeg Jets became the first Chinese-born player to sign a contract in the NHL.
