When Belichick cracked the code for the McVey offense in the 2019 Super Bowl it set Goff and McVay back. Goff is a really good QB but he needs a good scheme and surrounding talent. The next season teams emulated what Belichick did and the Rams offense struggled. When Stafford arrived, Kupp just started hitting his stride in year three and McVay learned a lot from getting schooled by Belichick and they got back on track. Goff was fortunate enough to land in a spot where there was a lot of progression in surrounding talent and the formation of another brilliant offensive scheme, and things have come together for the Lions. Kind of the rare big trade that worked out for both teams.
