Well that's the rub right? If axing the tax doesn't work, then the PCs lose the next election unless they can present real time working solutions. But that doesn't win votes anymore. Good policy doesn't have the weight it used to. Social politics play a bigger role now, divisive politics are the very forefront of modern democracy.
I cannot recall a Canadian debate where a clear well articulated plan won the day. I say Harper could have won if he didn't lean into the Niqab thing. Social politics lost him that election vs Trudeau. Trudeau pulled an Obama and sold hope and the hot topic of Wokeness.
