I actually and surprisingly really enjoyed it, maybe because the casting was really strong, especially with Jude Law, who was amazing in it. There were lots of homages in this, they took liberally from the Wizard of OZ, and the Pirates of the series of movies.
The effects were fantastic, and how they filmed the whole thing was amazing to look at.
Spoiler!
I was kind of surprised in a way that the supervisor was a droid, with the way they were dropping hints, but it did work.
The parents all got redemptive scenes in this one.
Not all Jedi who survived order 66 came out like Kal Kestis, of Kanaan, Jod's story was sad and tragic, and you could see he was conflicted as he watched the Pirate ship crash.
This was its own story, we didn't get any cameo's no Hera or Luke or Mando coming in to save the day, instead we got a squadron of X wings and a couple of B wings, and in the only real homage, they used the ship killer weapons that we first saw in Rebels.
I loved that the Supervisor saw completely through Jod's story thanks to stunningly Palpatine, he continues to do the best for the galaxy from errr beyond the grave.
Could there be a season two? Possibly if they want to continue to follow the kids, who's actors did a fabulous job. Or they could pick up a new story with new characters, or follow Jod, I don't think he's really redeemed in any way, his darker bitter world view points to that.
I have to admit going into this series I was temped not to watch it, because it was kid centric. But I'm glad I did, it was what Star Wars needed.
A simple fun goonies type of adventure.
