Most importantly, I trust him a lot more than Pierre to get us through economic troubles, because he understand issues deeper than three word slogans.

If he was running to lead the Conservatives vs Pierre, say, in their last leadership run, who would you have picked, and why?
You vote your country's leader based off someone's performance on a comedy talk show?

...

You are looking at it the wrong way.

If he was chosen instead of Trudeau and it was Carney vs Harper in 2015, I would have voted Carney as I voted Liberal that year and I don't vote based on partisanship ground.

And who knows, if Carney is not a narcissist and used a reasoned approach to policies versus running on pure ideology and pitting regions against each other, perhaps Liberals would have gotten my vote in 2019, 2021. But this is an alternate timeline.

We are in 2025.

Carney believes in the century initiative and carbon tax (not necessarily Trudeau's implementation) that are both heavily panned. His values in 2025 are similar to that of the Liberal core party today, and mimics Trudeau's values.

Carney would never get chosen versus Poilievre as party leader as CPC if he ran on those values today. The CPC kicked out a centrist to match the discontent of Canadians and because O'Toole introduced carbon tax in their platform. Would I personally chose him over Poilievre in a CPC race? Yes, if the policies stayed grounded.

Carney is a great candidate to be PM, if we were back in 2015 or 2019, and perhaps he would have been a great alternative to Harper even if he run on the CPC side. Today, we need something else. Maybe in 2029 we need a Carney with a completely rebuilt Liberal party that has shifted their policies to help Canadians again instead of telling Canadians what is best for them.

Today, this isn't about Carney, this about the party and policies implemented (and yes I watched most of it). His party needs to earn the trust of Canadians back (they are doing the total opposite).
