But in other ways, virtually all of his net worth can be pinned to government help. Tesla and SpaceX got started – and survived their early days – with assistance from state and federal policies, government contracts and loans.

“The foundation for Musk’s financial success has been the US government,” said Daniel Ives, tech analyst for Wedbush Securities.

And the value of Tesla and SpaceX doesn’t come from their profits so far.

Instead, their value comes from investments in their future worth, such as Tesla’s publicly traded stock and private funding rounds for SpaceX.

Those companies wouldn't exist without government handouts. Many he got by lying. Others, like the Supercharger funding once it was opened to other manufacturers, left government wondering WTF they had just done when he laid of the entire SC team as the feds are feeding money to Tesla to build them. The team that was supposed to make it work for all the other manufacturers.

Tesla has been one of the largest beneficiaries of the Biden Administration’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, which set aside some $5 billion to build out fast charging stations along major highways and is just starting to bear fruit. Tesla has won funding for 69 sites so far, totaling $28.8 million, according to the consulting firm EVAdoption.

When you start reading about Musk, you realize just how big of a bull####ting fraud he is. Dude can't code, he's not an engineer, hell, he can't even play video games without resorting to massive cheating. Which would be one thing, but then he'd brag about his l33t skillz. Hell, he had to go through a lawsuit just to get his name listed as a founder of Tesla, even though he most assuredly was not a founder.

"His behavior changed dramatically as soon as we started having press about Tesla," Eberhard said. "He got mad if anything was ever written about Tesla and it didn't feature his name prominently. And that's when I realized that there was an ego involved here that I hadn't recognized before."
