So if we look at the last 3 “sorta dynasties” we have Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Tampa. They used number 1-3 overall picks as the foundation of their teams. Kucherov is a bit of an exception but Stamkos is still there as the second best player. . 1-2-3 overall picks were why these teams were what they were. LA is the last semi dominant team to win being an exception to this rule. I honestly don’t put a ton of value on a late round first round pick, there just aren’t that many that develop into game changers. We need one or two 1-3 picks in a year there are great players available. I don’t see us climbing into a cup contender without this.
