Wolf is the wildcard in this race between the flames and the Canucks for the last playoff spot. The Canucks have had to face a lot of adversity so far this season and much of it could be behind them in the last half of the season so they could be more poised than the flames to improve the rest of the way… just by the shear capacity to improve. The flames capacity to be better lies with Wolf keeping up his level of goaltending while playing more games and Sharangovich finding his scoring touch. If both those things happen while other players keep playing as well as they have been, I think it’s a real good chance that the flames make it.

Also, there’s still the chance that Vancouver self-implodes due to the Pettersson/Miller drama. It would be tough to win a trade sending out one of those two guys.

Biggest risk for the flames not improving is the loss of Zary. They need guys like Sharangovich, Pelletier and Kerins to make up for what he has been bringing to the team. Tonight, they did just that. Well done.
