Okay, finally finished.

I have to admit, it was less of a music discovery journey towards the end and more of a fasting on music. A sort of Alberta music Ramadan. I basically just started listening to what I already Liked.

The Bad: while there are heaps of super talented musicians, the majority of music coming was from the Country Western Genre and there is an endemic problem Fake Southern Drawls. I don't know why everyone is out there trying to sound like 19 year old Taylor Swift but it is grating and takes away from a lot of stuff I would otherwise recommend.

The Good: there is a ton of really interesting experimental music, I think we are entering a golden age of bedroom Daw Producers.

Interesting Western Music

The Demin Daddies are probably the most interesting country western band coming from alberta. There newest EP Northen Goods is really good but you kind of need to forgive the drawl problem.

Tim Hus I'm not sure I love his records, but he plays a mean show well worth it to see him live

Ian Tyson is better than I thought he would be, definitely has that 80s 90s country shine, but he is a true poet. I think time is going to be really fair to his music

Wilf Carter, look you either love yodeling or you don't

Albums I listened to the #### out of

DIMOND JUBILEE BY CINDY LEE. Holy #### this is a masterpiece. SOO Good

Other artists worth a mention

Final thoughts. Was it worth it? Yes and No. My enthusiasm definitely faltered. But at the same time I was listening to Rod Stewart this morning and I was like god damn this is good, so maybe it was a good cleanse?

Anyways hope this thread lives and folks promote any local music they find.
