That post was several years ago and in response to someone with dumping a rental fleet on Turo. Hassle, sure. But if it's basically a full time job/side hustle where you're renting it out for basically the purchase price on a 10 year old vehicle, if not more... I'm sure there's a bunch of people really happy to do it.
I think the recent posts are a good way to think of it. For a single day or two of a rental, Turo is probably OK. But if it's longer for a pretty serious trip, just keep in mind that an easy contingency may not be available.
