Jan.8th:

Luke Misa's Steelheads beat Henry Mews' 67's by a score of 3-1. Mews gets 1a, was even, and had a team-high 7 shots. He is first in scoring by D in the OHL, with 38gp/11g/39a/50pts,-5, 42 PIM, on the 14th-place 67's.

Misa is in the midst of a slump that may coincide with the return of Angus MacDonnell to the lineup. He gets all zeroes, 6 shots, and goes 9/13 in faceoffs. In the last 5 games, Misa has only 4 points- while MacDonnell has 7 points in that span. It seems to me that there's some experimentation going on with the lines, at the very least. Misa is 10th in OHL scoring, with 37gp/21g/31a/52pts,+19, 2 PIM, and 16th in plus/minus.

I have hopes that the trade that brought Hunter Laing to Saskatoon will benefit him by giving him more ice-time and responsibility, but the Blades are an excellent team in their own right (they are tied with the Hitmen and the Tigers for 5th-overall). Tonight, he gets all zeroes, and ties for the highest amount of faceoffs taken on the team, going 6/13. Is he being tried at center? 37gp/10g/12a/22pts,+7, 26 PIM.

Hurtig is named third star in a 5-1 win over Moose Jaw, with 1g and a +1. 29gp/3g/5a/8pts,+23, 18 PIM, tied for 11th overall in plus/minus.

The Vancouver Giants had the 3rd-best team in the WHL, the Prince George Cougars, on the ropes by a score of 5-4, but Terik Parascak ties it at 18:17 of the 3rd, and newly-aquired Ben Riche scores the winner for the Cougs exactly a minute later. Lipinski gets 1g, -2, and goes 18/29 in faceoffs. 30gp/7g/21a/28pts,+3, 22 PIM. He has 13 points in the last 8 games.
