Seems like the Dolan family got involved with the Rangers in 1994 via ITT/Cablevision. Lots of corporate restructuring since then. The article mentions Edwards involvement in Flames ownership also began in 1994, so he may have mere days or weeks on the Dolans.
The article mentions that Jacobs has a longer tenure as majority owner than Edwards does.
The Wirtz Corporation seems to take controlling ownership of the Blackhawks in 1954 or in 1966 depending on where you check. Hard to say which Wirtz owned what share of the corporation as generations have come and gone. Presumably majority ownership of Wirtz Corporation, and therefore the Hawks, has changed a few times after 1994 - presumably at least Rocky Wirtz taking over around 2005 after Bill Wirtz was running things from 1983 until then.
No reason that the the claim in the article that Edwards "...is the second-longest serving majority owner of an NHL team, behind only Jeremy Jacobs." shouldn't be taken at face value.
