Last 2 seasons:
Cozens: 201 GP, 48.4% xGF, 26 Goals, 67 points
Kadri: 203 GP, 50.9% xGF, 43 goals, 102 points
One of those guys is young and not actually worth $7M, one of those guys is old but is actually worth $7M...that's the difference.
If you're a team that wants to win a cup this season or next season then Kadri is a lot more valuable than Cozens.

I absolutely think Kadri's current level of play would be desirable to a contender. The problem is most of them can't fit a $7M 2nd line centre in, or if they can it'd require them dumping salary elsewhere.
If Kadri wanted to leave, I think Conroy could do quite well in a trade if he were willing to eat $2M a year. I think it was Dreger who was saying on Barn Burner though that Kadri likes Calgary though, so it's likely not even a conversation that will happen.

I think you just need to take some salary back (if Kadri was willing to waive).
If a team like the Islanders was interested for example (Lou was interested when he was UFA) then you could take back a contract like Pageau or something like that ($5M).
