I think it's more expectations. When you expect them to be bad, they are good, and when you are invested in them being really good, they #### the bed.
14/15 was supposed to be in the McDavid mix. Make the playoffs, make trades for a guy like Hamilton. 15/16 high expectations make the playsoffs, win a round. Instead, we pick 6th overall.
16/17 starts it was all Hartley he was terrible, so we get a worse coach and have some tempered expectation. Make the playoffs off the back of a mid-season 10 game win streak. Swept in round 1.
17/18 Treliving once again goes all in with a horrible trade for Hamonic, nowe have great depth on D we should contend for the division. Nope miss the playoffs another inconsistent season, out 12th pick goes to the Islanders.
18/19 New coach, some new players we are hoping will pop and James Neal. Some expectations we can compete for a playoff spot, turn around and finish 2nd overall in the NHL. Get popped in the playoffs by Colorado.
19/20 we made system changes; we will be able to play with the Avs now. Start 12-12 and our coach has skeletons come out and is let go. Team battling for the last wild card spot until covid hits.
That 56 game joke season I have no idea what it was, but a coach was fired in came Sutter some hope he can push them in but we miss the playoffs.
21/22 Sutter is the coach, back to normal season but the team has zero expectations with stars that have been declining for years now and being moved into complimentary roles. Everyone has career years, win the division look like a solid bet to contend for the cup and get thumped in round 2.
22/23 Lots of change, but we probably have bettet depth now with a true #2C a 115pt winger. Weegar is here to solidify the defence. Flames should be contending for division. Nope struggle all year with inconsistensy and a coach gone wild.
23/24 We have no clue what is going to happen, a bunch of sulking players cues a rebuild.
24/25 expect to compete for a top 5 pick, currently we may pick 20-25th lol.
