Maybe you thought before the season that we were tanking. That doesn't mean Conroy's plan was for us to tank. Yes we traded vets. But we only traded some vets on expiring contracts, and the ones we still have are too good for us to outtank the Chicagos and San Joses, and they weren't traded.
I think we're outperforming some expectations, sure. But nothing conroy has done or tried to do suggest he wasn't trying to be competitive. He just didn't mortgage the future to do so.

I disagree with this post. Conroy certainly could have done a lot more to make this team competitive other than trading their number 1 goalie and one of the MVP’s of last season for a young player and pick or moving out one of their more proven goal scorers for a pick. Signing Mantha, Bean, and Barrie without even approaching the big fish UFA’s. SJ and Chi did more to bolster their rosters this past summer than Calgary did. I would argue no other team in the bottom 10 last year did less to improve this summer than Calgary.
