Laporta is such a clown. Somehow, some fans still lap it up when he whines about the league being soooo unfair to them, but the truth is the club has just not been operating in a financially sensible way for years now. Granted, he's inherited an absolute mess from Bartomeu, but he has done absolutely nothing to stabilize the club's finances, on the contrary. The correct play would have been to not make expensive signings for a couple of years and just focus on developing La Masia talents. Heck, if there's one club in the world that can easily live off their own youth talents for a while in order to recover financially, it's Barcelona ... they would have easily still qualified for CL, no problem. But nooooo, Senor Levers had to go and sign expensive players, so he started selling off future rights to somehow make it work. Now he whines because the league actually somewhat digs its heels in (they'll give in eventually, they always do). Pathetic.
The real headscratcher here is that players like Olmo will still bend over backwards to play for them. I get it, super beautiful city and everything, but it's not exactly a secret that the club itself is a hot mess. I mean, they sign players to expensive contracts and beg them for pay cuts a year later. Mess of a club.
