The modern day stuff doesn't last. A 2017 hot water tank maybe 7-10 year lifespan depending on use and gas/electric.

What a lot of manufacturers do is come up with excuses for their garbage products like registration (default is manufactured date which is longer) or they ask if you've done maintenance on it and want proof.

It's still a gear grinder than all these companies and corporations are allowed to engineer products to break down at specific intervals and then provide little to no actual product support to justify robbing us all blind.
