I always assumed this is what is meant when you make a donation like this.
This is the reason why terms and conditions are needed these days to clarify what your donation actually entitles you to, not the actual brick until an asteroid strike destroys civilization.
That people actually believed they owned the physical bricks is weird.
Maybe what the City could have done is let you re-up your donation and put a dedication on a new brick or wall of some kind. The bending over backwards to appease a bunch of weirdos for a $19.88 one-time donation is dumb af.
