They don't actually play the games.
The idea that Markstrom has to go in and play against Edmonton, or that Monahan has to go line up against McDavid and MacKinnon has no bearing on the discussion.
It's between the years of 2000 - 2025 who were the best Calgary Flames?
Markstrom is very likely the second best goalie over that time period when you look at Games Played, Save Percentage, performance, etc.
Monahan and Backlund were the two best centers over that time period.
And that's why the team didn't have more success over the last 25 years...we were very thin at two critical positions of center and goalie.
