Was thinking about the rumours for the last few months about Conroy looking to trade for a young (<25) center. I know it would be a trade for the long term plan but how would it work in the short term? For example, say he traded for Dylan Cozens in January… where would Huska put the Cozens? Right now, Zary is looking to be on track to be a center in the NHL. I hope that would still be the plan. The coach leans heavily on Backlund and Kadri as centers. Would he be comfortable switching Backlund into being a 4th line center? I don’t think you’d want Zary or the new young centre playing that role.

It’s a good problem to have too many good centers. The flames are far from having that but I just wonder how a new young center would mix up the usage of Kadri, Zary and Backlund. I would be concerned if the decision would just be to move Zary back to wing. He is doing great with the opportunity to be a center and I would hate to stifle that right now. Having Backlund as rhe 4th line center is honestly the only option I could think of that would work.
