Yes, nothing screams democracy at work like the actions of one individual digging their heels in, against the wishes of their peers, while Nero plays his fiddle, in an effort to hold on to power for as long as possible in what can only be bizarrely described as ego over pragmatism. Delaying the inevitable out of sure ignorance. Not out of democratic prudence, but personal interests.
