If the flames and Kreider could work it out that they are getting him to trade him with retention, it could be a smart move. He agrees to waive his NMC to go to Calgary for a 4th round pick. Calgary retains 50% of his salary, and gets a 2nd/late 1st round pick at the TDL. Kreider at $3.25 million AAV for 2 years is decent contract for a contender.
