Hoping to tap into the CP hive mind to help me choose a VR headset and get the opinion of CPers for using VR for "arm chair travel".
I recently took my mom to Horizons of Kufu and she loved it. Mom's a bit bummed because her age and her mobility (and her great aversion to being around real people) pretty preclude her from travelling to places like Rome, Paris, Africa, Egypt, Venice etc. She doesn't really so much want to "go" as she wants to see these places in a more immersive environment than television can ever do.
I was thinking of picking up a couple of Meta Quest 2s used after Christmas. Get her set up and see if she likes it before investing in a better rig for her (and me).
Those who have the MQ 2 - would it fit the bill?
Anyone else who does/likes VR tourism, are there any particular apps or channels you'd recommend?
I last looked at VR for my mom back in 2016 - and it wasn't really up to snuff back then. Has it gotten appreciably better since?
What else can I do with a VR headset that isn't a 1st person shooter or has zombies? I hate zombies AND 1st person shooters. Rimworld and Sims are much more my bag and they don't need VR.
