Oh absolutely he was protecting the picks from being top 10, but I would think that if you had offered Floridas first in 2025 that the trade would have been accepted all the same. It seems like Treliving paid a very heavy price for risk control, especially if we lose an 11th overall pick because of it.

I still think assuming your team will finish bottom 10 and getting protection written into the conditions sends a poor message to the players (if they care).
