Has the company proposing the development detailed their plan for tailings handling yet? Guessing this is the Grassy mountain steel making coal mining proposal. I checked out their website. It says the development would be on a pre-existing unreclaimed site and that part of the project would be reclaiming the site over the life of the new mine. Which would be a positive.

So again has their been any mention of their plan for tailings containment. I’m assuming engineered ponds. But there are other methods as well just from reading on the net. I’m just curious what they are doing. I guess since there was an existing mine there they would be able to tell if it had an impact on the watershed. I’m also guessing that there have been upgrades to tailings management over the years. So whatever is being proposed is probably an upgrade over the previous setup. I couldn’t find it anywhere.
They seem to be doing a good job of discouraging renewables investments, but apparently a coal mine built in the mountains is ok.
