I haven't watched a "new" episode of the Simpsons in years - until last night, and I thought it was pretty funny.

Could it be that some of you hardcore fans maybe watch the show a little too much and are growing immune to the humour?

 Ridiculous.
I gave up on the Simpsons two seaasons ago. Every once in awhile I watch the new episode, but am thoroughly disappointed. I missed last night's, and apparently I didn't miss much.
The problem with the writing is that they are putting conversation into the show. As mentioned, seasons 4-8 were the best. Those episodes were joke-to-joke-to-joke, with some situational comedy in the background. Now, the Simpsons sit on their couch & discuss unfunny things.
To me, watching these episodes is like watching your old dog fumble around. You love the thing to death, but you just to put him out of his misery.
The longer the Simpsons run, the happier I am that Jerry Seinfeld ended his show when he did.
