Which isn't an excuse obviously. It actually makes it worse and makes me wonder how many others of those 1,500 shouldn't have been pardoned.
The whole idea of willy nilly pardons is just dumb to begin with. Every individual pardon should have some kind of explanation justifying why it was considered or warranted.
Trump is about to do the same thing with the January 6th insurrectionists. I don't know how many people that will be, but some pretty bad people are probably going to be set free because of it.

Biden's blanket pardon on that issue was on the urging of the ACLU, so it wasn't without any basis at all.
