Not sure it’s as much the Habs giving up on Barron as recognizing they need to start getting some traction here and now. Carrier is a good player and a pro who plays the right way. He will really solidify their blue line, and the Habs still have lots of good young D prospects. You just have to look at the Sabres to see how risky it is to rely in a D-core made up of 20-24 year olds.
