I'm growing more and more tired with Gibbons' act as this season goes on. Today doesn't help either. Bases loaded, 1 out, with a 1-0 lead in the 7th and they let Royce Clayton bat with Troy Glaus available as a pinch-hitter. Quick double play and Seattle still has a chance.

Clayton is already frustrated with lack of playing time. Sometimes you need to manage your team to ensure guys feel like they are being given a chance to contribute and that the manager has confidence in them. If it was the 9th I agree - but in that specific situation I think you let Clayton hit.
