I mean it's not really that amazing when you consider the Lib's were on their knees pre JT and being kicked to the curb by the NDP, JT was brought in to rally all those boomers that remembered his dad and all the fun they had in the 60's and 70's, he never had any political weight, he appealed to liberal/Canadian nostalgia and appealed very well as it turned out, but he was always using his personal appeal to resurrect a dead party that needed to reinvent itself and he just staved that off, once his appeal was over the party has gone back to where it was pre JT
