There is a very loud minority who want to be angry about everything and who make this crusade their entire identity, and amplifying those voices in order to create a "bad guy" creates publicity and attention for the game such that people want to praise it just to stick it to those troglodytes. This has been a marketing strategy used by nearly every major Disney / Amazon project for the past 5 years or so. And there are also plenty of people in media - regardless of sector or industry - who know they can generate outrage clicks by talking about the "controversy".
Just ignore it, and figure out if it's a good game based on the people who seem to be critiquing or praising it on that basis. It's mildly annoying to try to sift through the culture war bull#### to find actual legitimate well-founded opinion, but not THAT hard.
