I think Cozens can be a good #2 pivot in the right environment. That's what you are hoping for if you go and get him.
We be-moan when other teams make these deals to get a guy that then pops with them. This is what those deals look like. The player you are acquiring is under performing. That's why he's available. Doesn't mean it works every time. But you have to assess the risk/reward of it.
If you can trade a late first, as the primary piece, for Cozens, I do it ALL DAY LONG. Because the chances you get a guy as good as him in the 20s, is very slim. And if he ends up being a 3rd line centre - so what - means he's overpaid maybe by 2M tops.

This is the best reason to go after Cozens, if you can get him for a buy low opportunity and he addresses a need that will take the organization 5-6 years to address through the draft. The same logic applies to McTavish I guess as well.
