Potentially a big change here with Minor Hockey. Hockey Alberta released this bulletin. Essentially it opens up the possibility to play outside your designated Minor Hockey Association or Quadrant within Minor hockey (for example live in Chinook Park and apply to play for Glenlake, instead of Southwest). It would also allow new registrants to pick their MHA of choice.
Could have giant ramifications on parity.

hmmm. not invested in the decision based on life stage, and also I would understand the rationale, as well as arguments for and against. on the whole I'm not crazy about it- parity as you point out- but also having experience Soccer which was this way (when I was a parent, but less so when I played- while living in Chinook Park curiously!) the amount of mercenary jumping and lack of continuity seemed worse than what I observed as a hockey parent- I totally accept that with sports schools and other non-HC programs it is happening too in hockey
of course for kids wanting to play with friends, families who move or double households, or kids that for whatever reason are not getting the right oppportunities in their local community or quadrant its appealing
