I was thinking about this recently as it happened to my brother. Ultimately, it must be some sort of insurance the courier has that covers the cost of a replacement for you when they misdeliver? Do they have recourse to try and retrieve the item from the place they delivered it to improperly? The vendor certainly isn't eating this.
But then, how does the insurance system for these things work? Is this tied to the homeowners insurance pool, increasing rates?
The complexity of our modern society for trivial #### gives me profound megalophobia.
