#1 Draft franchise defining players
#2 Draft/Sign/acquire good players to play with them
If you do #2 before #1, #1 never happens…and you then live in irrelevancy. If you screw up #2 after doing #1, you live in irrelevancy.
#2 prevents you from doing #1
Doing #2 poorly ruins what you did in #1.
I would like to see #1, then we can worry about #2
