Kariya and Selanne were signings, I believe, and both were not in good shape all that year. kariya only got one game in for the POs. And Selanne led the Ducks to a cup a couple years later.
It's impossible to compare adding a name like Crosby with any past trade. Iginla to Pittsburgh comes closest.
