Whatever the flavour of the month is, that's what we get. No foresight, no vision, no real solutions. The government is absolute garbage. All of it, not just the liberals. The opposition is the same, everyone just shifting with the wind to get some soundbites in to last long enough to get their pension.

I think the issue you have is with Democracy. It is built on the flavor of the month based on the attitudes of the majority of people. If you want 5 year proactive planning, then you need a dictatorship. The hallmark of Democracies is that they are inherently behooving to the whims of the people, not to what is necessarily in their best interest. Staple on some capitalistic oligarchy and you get modern day western governments.
