Anyway, I disagree with a lot of what you mentioned, personally. Atkins hasn't been terrible, but I'd rate him pretty bad generally. He locked in Springer to a long term deal. But he can't sign Vlad or Bo. With their payroll they should've done way more over the Atkins tenure. Rotation and Bullpen generally I'd give a very good grade most years - they've done a generally good job there. Drafting, terrible. Trades, picking guys who outperformed, they've done alright, but nobody truly groundbreaking like AA picking up Bautista. Instead they've done IKF who overperformed but wasn't an impact player. Having financial flexibility is great but they've missed signing their stars and haven't drafted well enough. Tough position to be. |
Yeah. And AA probably gets Vlad locked up long term early (eg, Acuņa).
This management team has definitely underperformed considering the budget they've had to work with.
