Golden batter seems a bit too far to me. My biggest concern would be if you give the top tier batters an extra at-bat per game that makes all the single-season records incomparable. 60 HR will become 72 HR with an extra 20% at bats. I agree at minimum you'd need to make that the "Golden boys" final play of the game, but probably that still means Ohtani/Judge take the last at-bat of every regular season game.
That's the fascinating part. Like the closer is always saved for the ninth but sometimes the big hitters come up earlier. Some managers are resisting this. Do you only use your golden bat when you're behind or late in the game? What if you're up 3-1 in the 5th with the bases loaded, wouldn't you want to put the game out of hand?

And if the golden bat (Ohtani) gets on base and he's due up again, does a pinch runner automatically go in and Ohtani hits again?
