3 of those 4 are the "future" of the team. 1 of them also just got paid.

The Sharangovich contract was a bad idea. Guy goes from being a healthy scratch in the playoffs, to shooting 17.3%, and getting a 5 year contract extension a full year before he actually needed it. Other than managing optics for the team (“look, someone wants to be here!”) that Sharangovich contract extension was silly. It’ll probably end up being “fine” value, but I don’t get how you look at his NHL experience and decide to jump in bed with him on a 5 year extension, when he still has one year left on his current deal.
Zary and Coronato will have consistency problems like you noted. Neither of these guys are elite/project to be elite. They’re mid-to-late 1st round picks, they’re doing great for what they are/what their ceiling (likely) is.
Kuzmenko was a healthy scratch cap-dump who the Flames wanted to try and build some value in. It’s not working, but that shouldn’t be a surprise.
None of Sharangovich, Zary, and Coronato are likely to be key pieces for the “future”. They’re all much more likely to be support pieces, and that’s totally fine.
