If you want to focus purely on points (which I wouldn't) he is 9th among forwards in the team's last 20 games. And that is with the most generous opportunities on the team by far.
Is the team getting "caved in" when he is on the ice? Those aren't my words, but the results speak for themselves. Which forwards are playing better than Huberdeau? Basically all of them, those with less production are filling a role that he can't.

He's right around 50% in possession. That's not "caved in". There's absolutely too much hyperbole around this player.
EDIT: Moneypuck has him 6th in xgf (5th among forwards) so I'm not sure you are accurate. And his % iss 55.7. He's 4th on xgf differential at 4.8.
